GardenJoin us for a special library outing to the German gardens at the Colonel Palmer House for a fascinating exploration of the hidden language of flowers through history, science, and art.
Discover the basics of plant taxonomy and ethnobotany, learn about trailblazing women in botanical illustration, uncover the symbolic meanings of flowers in Victorian culture, play a flower message deciphering game, and create your own fresh floral tussie-mussie bouquet with a secret message. This experience is offered by the Crystal Lake Park District, and Sarah Taylor, Colonel Palmer House Supervisor, will be our guide for the evening.
The library will cover the cost of admission. Attendees must provide their own transportation. Colonel Palmer House is located at 660 E. Terra Cotta Ave, Crystal Lake, Illinois 60014
