The Big Sit Birding Event - RO

Adults 18+

How many birds can you identify in one day while staying within a 17-foot diameter circle? That’s the challenge of The Big Sit!

Join fellow nature enthusiasts in celebrating Fall World Migratory Bird Day for The Big Sit at Glacial Park's Lost Valley Visitor Center. Birders of all experience levels are welcome to identify and count local birds while learning how to record sightings using the eBird app. Stop by anytime between 7:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. and stay as long as you'd like as part of the AAPLD circle. McHenry County Conservation District staff will be on hand to share simple ways you can help birds and other wildlife that call your property home.

Please bring binoculars, a lawn chair, weather-appropriate clothing (including rain gear and layers), water, and snacks if you plan to stay longer.
