In celebration of Día de Muertos, AAPLD invites you to contribute to a community ofrenda at the Harnish Main Library. Drop off ofrenda items at the Youth desk; you may register to receive a reminder.
Día de Muertos, or the Day of the Dead, is a festive and colorful holiday when families celebrate the lives of their loved ones who have passed away. During this celebration, souls are invited to return to dance, listen to music, and feast with their relatives. To guide them home and show they are fondly remembered, families set up beautiful ofrendas, or altars, decorated with their loved ones' favorite things.
AAPLD warmly invites the community to participate in our community ofrenda by sharing a photograph or symbolic item. Beginning October 7, you can bring these special items to the Youth Services Desk at the Harnish Main Library. Please label the items clearly with your name, phone number, and the name of the individual in the photo. The community ofrenda will be displayed in a secure space from October 22 to November 6. We will care for your treasures and return them to you after November 6.
No registration is required to participate in the ofrenda, but if you do register, we will happily email you a reminder to bring in your items.
