Ms Jenni invites you to try an experiment at home!
Little Scientist Challenge: Ice RESCUE!
Materials:
Waterproof plastic toys without holes (Little People, legos, plastic dinosaurs, etc.)
Muffin pan (Tupperware containers work, too.)
Salt
Warm water
Excavation tools (spoons, popsicle sticks, etc.)
Directions:
Scour the house for plastic toys (without holes) and freeze them in water. Once they are frozen, give your child some warm water and excavation tools. Can they rescue their toys?
Little Scientist Challenge:
If you have salt available, encourage your little one to sprinkle the ice with salt. What happens? Does this help to expedite the process of extracting the toys?
