The Dick Van Dyke Show is well remembered as one of the wittiest situation comedies in the history of television. What is less well remembered is that it was a deceptive innovator. It contrasts sharply with the situation comedies of the 1950s; in fact it ushers in a new era. It was the first sitcom to be set in suburbia, to feature both work and home is a central focus, to present a modern housewife as well as the first show to feature a professional woman in the workplace. This unique presentation will highlight one of the most iconic programs and early TV history.
