Does finals week have you stressed out? Meet Oakley and Walter, the K9 Therapy Dogs for the McHenry and Carpentersville police departments. They will be at the library for snuggles, no signups needed.
Oakley was selected in July 2022 by the McHenry Police Department to be their very first K9 therapy dog. He was born in May 2022 and is still a puppy! Walter began his job with the Carpentersville Police Department in 2021 and is a grown-up dog. These professional dogs provide their therapy services to the general community, but more specifically to their police officers and emergency dispatchers. Police & Dispatch are highly stressful jobs and therapy dogs are able to provide emotional support during or after high-stress 911 calls.
