Join us for an after-hours program to celebrate hot air ballooning and its fascinating history with a presentation by pilot Glenn O'Connell and the projection of the movie The Aeronauts.
As National Aviation Day falls in August, let's mark the occasion with two special events dedicated to hot air balloons!
Pilot Glenn O’Connell will take you on a journey through the captivating history of ballooning, tracing its roots back to the mid-1700s. Discover the wonders of modern-day balloons, their unique shapes and designs, the excitement of competitive ballooning, and the thrill of riding in large balloons. Learn about the science, physics, and weather behind a safe balloon flight. A balloon basket will be on display for you to admire, and Glenn will be available to answer any questions you may have. Following the presentation, we'll treat you to a screening of the thrilling movie The Aeronauts.
Glenn and his team will be back at the Algonquin Area Library on Saturday, August 10th at 10 am for the Hot Air Balloon Show-and-Tell program, perfect for the whole family to enjoy. You will have the unique opportunity to step inside the inflated balloon envelope and experience the magic up close! For more information please check our calendar.
Both programs require registration.
