Horror novelist Nick Medina will present his method for developing a novel.

Chicago-born horror novelist Nick Medina will discuss how he develops his novels, including how he integrates traditional folklore into modern settings to enhance a story's meaning and depth. 

Nick Medina, a member of the Tunica-Biloxi Tribe of Louisiana, brings a deep appreciation for local and Native culture, folklore, and storytelling to his work. His novels, Sisters of the Lost Nation (a Junior Library Guild Gold Standard Selection), Indian Burial Ground (named one of Parade's best horror books of 2024), and The Whistler (called "Truly spooky" by People Magazine and named one of 2025's best horror novels by Men's Health) intertwine supernatural myths with current social issues, exploring themes rooted in both history and legend. His fourth novel, Savage Lake, will be available in November 2026 from Berkley/Penguin Random House.
