Join us in welcoming back Shannon Downey (She/They) for the second in a series of events spotlighting makers using their art, voice, and power to influence the world around them.
Recommended for 18+
Shannon Downey is an artist, activist, craftivist, community builder, and general instigator. She blends politics, activism, and art into projects that are designed to inspire others to take action, think, discuss, engage with democracy and their community, and find some digital/analog balance. She is queer, anti-racist, feminist, anti-capitalist, and committed to growth, learning, honesty, and doing whatever she can to make this an equitable world. Their art generally tackles what she calls “the big three” systems of oppression: white supremacy, patriarchy, and capitalism.
Catch Shannon again from noon to 1 PM on Saturday, May 14 for a sneak peek into their creative process. Drop in anytime for a chance to win a unique piece of art.
This program is proudly presented in partnership with multiple Illinois public libraries and will take place on Zoom. Please register with a valid email address to receive the link to join.
